Orange essence functions like "RP" even though LoL fans can still buy RP (Riot Points) in the shop. That means that, using orange essence, players can get cosmetics like skins which can sometimes cost some serious cash. However, players can bypass purchasing RP by farming orange essence, collecting skin shards, and trading in the essence for new cosmetics. So how can players earn more orange essence and get free skins?
Instead of purchasing RP with money, players can use orange essence to unlock skins. Players earn orange essence by performing well and playing a great deal which keeps players in LoL and not in a rival game like Overwatch or Smite.
This, of course, includes ways to get orange essence. However, Riot has since patched or nerfed many of the orange essence options and added more icons and emotes which drives down the drop rate of orange essence in chests.
This might be the most obvious way to earn orange essence, but it still bears mentioning. After all, with games like League of Legends that have free-to-play models, making things available for real money and very difficult to get otherwise is how the company pays for game development (one way, at least). They cost 125 RP per chest.

Runecrafting pouches are items that can hold varying amounts of rune essence or pure essence. Pouches are highly useful during Runecrafting because they enable a player to carry more than double the amount of essence per load.
With all pouches being used the player can carry up to 71 essences in their inventory. When using the full infinity ethereal outfit as well as an abyssal titan, that amount increases to 103 essences per inventory.
There are five different sizes of pouches. Players may only own one pouch of each size, except for the massive pouch (however, only one massive pouch can be filled at a time). As the size of the pouch increases, so does the Runecrafting level required to use it. Each pouch can carry either pure essence or rune essence but not both at once.
According to the abyssal book, runecrafting pouches are made out of organs harvested from abyssal creatures. Placing magically unstable objects (i.e. rune essence) inside the organ transports them into abyssal space, allowing the organ to hold more than its external appearance would seem to permit. However, as each pouch is used the organ's storage capacity degrades requiring that the pouch be repaired by magical means.
These pouches are among the items never kept on death. If a pouch is dropped with rune essence or pure essence inside, they will disappear from the pouch and become irretrievable. If these pouches are lost on death in the Wilderness while an abyssal titan is summoned they can be reclaimed by summoning a new abyssal titan and checking its inventory.
