This book, written by veteran Oracle database administrator Iggy Fernandez, a regular on the Oracle conference circuit and the editor of NoCOUG Journal, is a manageable introduction to key Oracle database administration topics including planning, installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and backups, to name just a few. As is clear from the table of contents, this book is not simply a recitation of Oracle Database features such as what you find in the reference guides available for free download on the Oracle web site. For example, the chapter on database monitoring explains how to monitor database availability, database changes, database security, database backups, database growth, database workload, database performance, and database capacity.

Getting the needed files The Oracle client software is available as a free download from Oracle but the MIT online version is much easier to install since it has all the MIT specific choices already selected with the MSI. The software is listed on the Software page made available by MIT's Information Systems & Technology (IST) webpages: The Oracle listing is here: -hardware?type=All&platform=Windows+7&users=All&title=oracle&recommended_only=All
Hi,I am installing Oracle Database 11g on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. The installer is a.msi file. The database is installed on a separate partition from the Windows installation. I am trying to install the Oracle client (11g client) but it fails. The following error occurs:
-- If you use a personal computer with ArcGIS installed then the ArcGIS 'add database connection' will automatically connect to the CRL database engine. Otherwise, open ArcGIS and go to the 'Data' item in the ArcToolbar. In the 'Data Source Configurations' window, click on the 'add data' button.
-- A final option is to have two separate databases on the same machine. One for ArcGIS and the other for the data you want to add to ArcGIS. In this case, you would use the same database to store data for ArcGIS but use different engines (Oracle or Oracle SDE) for the ArcGIS engine. It may be the easiest. 827ec27edc
