Generic buffy coats are manufactured from whole blood collected from a general blood donor. Corresponding donor demographic information on generic buffy coats is not available. Also, specific donor selection and donor recall ability for subsequent Leukopak product donations are not possible.
Generic buffy coats are shipped on the day of manufacture for next-day delivery. Units are packed and shipped per American Red Cross procedure, which allows for the client to select shipment at 1-6C or 20-24C.
